SEGRO, Europe’s leading owner-manager and developer of industrial property, has announced that UK Mail has almost doubled its space on the Slough Trading Estate by moving to a 45,756 sq ft newly refurbished unit at 119/120 Buckingham Avenue.

UK Mail, one of the largest independent mail and logistics services companies, has been based at the Estate since 1991, occupying 24,368 sq ft on Berkshire Avenue. The company will occupy Buckingham Avenue from the beginning of August, on a 15-year lease. This building represented the largest void on the Trading Estate and it has now been let just four months after the refurbishment programme was completed.

This latest letting is part of a continuing trend that SEGRO is experiencing from parcel delivery companies who require more space due to the increase in demand they are seeing from e-commerce related activities. UK Mail has chosen to expand with SEGRO due to the company’s well located, modern industrial estates situated on the edge of large urban conurbations. Parcel delivery companies are increasingly requiring warehouse units of between 30,000 sq ft to 70,000 sq ft that give them the space, density and ease of access to be able to sort and distribute deliveries quickly.

Paul Hutchinson, head of property at UK Mail, said: “We have established a strong base at the Slough Trading Estate, and partnering with SEGRO has allowed us to plan for further expansion. The Estate’s great infrastructure and its proximity to key transport networks ensures we can deliver outstanding service to our customers, making this an ideal location for a logistics services company.”

Paul Lewis, SEGRO’s regional director for the Thames Valley, added: “We’re delighted to see UK Mail expand on the Slough Trading Estate. Working in partnership with them, we have been able to adapt the building to meet their requirements. This latest letting demonstrates the importance of the Estate as an attractive location for businesses who need fast and easy access to both London and the Thames Valley.”
