HMT Corporate Finance recently announced Ian Barton’s appointment as lead advisory partner. Ian spent 20 years at Deloitte and for almost 10 years prior to joining HMT built and led their South East corporate finance advisory business as a partner. Barton's focus has been on UK mid market and owner manager businesses either sourcing investment and acquisitions or enabling exit strategies and maximising value across a range of industry sectors. He also works extensively with private equity houses leading several of the region's most prestigious transactions, winning Thames Valley Deal of the Year in both 2007 and 2011.

Previous transactions include the MBO, bolt on acquisition, refinancing and subsequent sale of XLN Telecom, the disposal of Rowse Honey, the MBO's of Swift Technical Group for Gresham, Davies Loss Adjusters and Penn Pharmaceuticals for LDC, and the disposal of CloserStill exhibitions for management and NVM to Phoenix Equity Partners.

Commenting on Barton's appointment, Partner Andrew Thomson said, "HMT has demonstrated in recent years its market leading credentials both by deal completions and recognition through the Thames Valley Deal Awards. Our ability to attract someone of Ian’s calibre underlines this position as the leading corporate finance advisor in the Thames Valley and we look forward to working with Ian to continue to provide best advice to entrepreneurs and other stake holders in the region."

Barton said, "I am delighted to be joining this award winning team and continuing to lead the mid market's pre eminent transactions as has been my focus for the last 10 years in the South region."
