The southern group of national and global accountants and advisers Moore Stephens has appointed Robert Newman as its new chairman.

Newman, who is a partner in the Salisbury office, succeeds Mike Scott who has been chairman of Moore Stephens South for the past ten years. During that time the firm has gone from strength to strength, undergoing three mergers which, coupled with solid organic growth, have made Moore Stephens South a major force in the region.

“The firm has witnessed significant positive change over the past decade,” explained Newman. “Our aim is to continue with growing organically while at the same time being open to appropriate merger opportunities.”

Moore Stephens South, which has offices in Salisbury, Chichester, Guildford, Southampton and the Isle of Wight, provides a range of compliance and advisory services to local businesses and individuals through a personal, partner-led approach. It is this fact that Newman, who has been a partner since 1985, views as key to its ongoing success. “In an increasingly difficult market, it is of paramount importance that we are providing value to our clients through not just our expertise, but our understanding of our clients’ needs and objectives.”

Outgoing chairman Mike Scott is confident Newman is the right man for the job. “I’m immensely proud of what the firm has achieved, and Robert has the passion and energy to take Moore Stephens South to the next level. We’re all excited about the next leg of the journey.”
