Pitmans, the Thames Valley’s largest commercial law firm, has appointed Adam Dowdney as a partner, and Matthew Vance as a senior solicitor, to its Corporate Finance department. Both have joined Pitmans from ClarksLegal where Dowdney was head of the Corporate Finance Department and Vance was an associate and member of his team.

Dowdney specialises in advising on acquisitions, disposals and MBOs/MBIs for large corporates and has been involved in fundraisings for SMEs and public companies as well as numerous other corporate finance transactions, including restructurings, demergers, share buy-backs and drafting shareholder agreements. Dowdney also has considerable experience working on transactions involving public companies, in particular in relation to the AIM Market.

Matthew Vance’s experience includes working with FTSE companies, French and US firms, SMEs and private individuals. He has previously worked at Travers Smith Braithwaite and Berwin Leighton Paisner.

Christopher Avery, managing partner at Pitmans, commented: “This is another major coup for Pitmans. Adam and Matthew have joined arguably the leading corporate finance team in the region and can only make the department stronger and more formidable. With their experience and contacts I have no doubt that they will be an invaluable asset to the firm.

“These two new hirings are in line with the firm’s stated policy of recruiting the best lawyers available and making Pitmans the leading commercial law firm in the region.”
