Reading: Leading patent lawyer joins Boyes Turner
Isabel Davies, one of the UK’s and Europe’s leading patent and trademark lawyers has joined the firm’s commercial & technology group from CMS Cameron McKenna where she was senior partner in its IP team and chairman of its Technology, Media and Telecoms sector group.
The Legal 500 recently commented that Davies is “without doubt, one of Europe’s leading contentious IP specialists” and Legal Media’s Best of the Best Experts Guide ranked Davies as one of the world’s 25 pre-eminent IP lawyers.
Davies advises on both contentious and transactional issues as well as strategic issues in managing patent, trade mark and design portfolios and IP Audit. Her client base stretches across technology, media and telecoms, consumer products and life sciences as well as other sectors including hotels and leisure. She will work alongside Boyes Turner’s highly regarded head of IP, partner Sarah Hadland and partners Mark Blunden, who leads Boyes Turner’s Commercial & Technology group and Bill Gornall-King. Recent additions to Boyes Turner’s IP team include Holly Strube and Selena Brent.
Davies said: “I am excited about joining Boyes Turner. In the current climate it makes particular sense for my existing clients who will benefit from the firm’s value focused regional charges which compare very favourably to City rates. With my home base in Chelsea, London, I will continue to participate actively in the London IP world. It also provides the opportunity to work closely with a number of leading IP lawyers including the able and delightful Sarah Hadland, with whom I worked for seven years previously. Boyes Turner’s IP service is fast becoming one of the principal IP practices outside of London and based in the technology focused Thames Valley is ideal in the light of my TMT credentials and the Government's drive on innovation.”
Head of Boyes Turner’s IP team, Sarah Hadland, added: “Isabel’s arrival comes at a significant time for the further development of the group and the firm’s IP service. It means that many of the large UK, international and multinational businesses based in the greater Thames Valley - the heart of the UK’s technology corridor - will have cost effective access to one of the UK’s leading IP lawyers. We now have the region’s leading IP team which will help us better service the needs of our growing client base and also enhance our patent and Brand Guardianship service. Isabel’s experience and skills are a perfect strategic fit. We are both flattered and delighted that she has chosen to join us.”
