David Norman has been appointed as a new commissioner on the board of Poole Harbour Commissioners.
Norman, who currently runs his own marine consultancy business, held a number of senior positions with Condor Ferries during his 17-year career with the company, including that of operations director.
A master mariner, he will bring welcome maritime experience to what is already a varied board of 12 commissioners, responsible for overseeing the management of the 10,000 acres which makes up Europe’s largest natural harbour. He will hold the position for three years.
Jim Stewart, chief executive of Poole Harbour Commissioners, said: “I am delighted that David has joined our board. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise, which will prove invaluable in helping the board to implement our master plan in the coming years.”
Richard Lacey and Jacky Hardy were also reappointed for a further term by the independent panel.
