Westminster Group awarded contract for ‘iconic’ UK building
Banbury-based security firm Westminster Group has been awarded a contract to provide a Mass Entry Security Screening solution to an unnamed ‘iconic’ UK building.
The organisation responsible for the building has contracted Westminster ahead of the impending Protect Duty Legislation, which is expected to come into effect later this year.
Evolved from a campaign organised by the mother of one of the 2017 Manchester Bombing victims, the legislation will set out standards to protect patrons and the general public from terrorist attacks when in crowded spaces.
Westminster’s MassScan mass entry screening system can detect contraband items including explosives, weapons, narcotics and quantities of currency notes. It is capable of screening multiple people at the same time without the need to empty pockets or remove clothing.

The contract, which is valued at more than £100,000 will begin immediately, and is predicted to be finished in the coming weeks.
Peter Fowler, CEO of Westminster Group, said: "In our recent Interim Report, I stated the Home Office estimates that 650,000 UK businesses could be affected by the Protect Duty legislation and that Westminster's expertise and portfolio of products and services are well placed to assist businesses and organisations prepare and improve their security accordingly.
"I am delighted therefore that Westminster has been selected for this prestigious contract, which was awarded following extensive on-site trials and is just one of a number of similar projects we are currently pursuing."
