Commercial property developer Stoford has secured a pre-sale at its Worcester Six Business Park scheme from MiTek, a global supplier of integrated software, services, engineered products, and automated solutions for the building industry worldwide.

Stoford has submitted a planning application for a new 278,048 sq ft manufacturing facility at the southern extension of Worcester Six, near Jct 6 of the M5.

The proposed new unit will become MiTek’s EMEA headquarters, serving its businesses in the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Norway, Finland and South Africa.

If plans are approved, MiTek will acquire the freehold to the building upon its completion, representing what is believed to be the largest pre-sale in Worcestershire for more than 20 years.

Stoford recently began phase two infrastructure works at Worcester Six which will facilitate the development of the southern extension of the site, unlocking more than 60 acres of land.

The extension of Worcester Six is part of a long-term development strategy and is included in the South Worcestershire Development Plan. Once complete, phase two will deliver up to a further 680,000 sq ft of new employment accommodation.

Stoford Director, Edward Peel, said: “This is a hugely significant deal for Worcester Six and a tremendous boost for employment in Worcestershire. MiTek’s commitment to establishing a new headquarters at Worcester Six, supports our vision to extend the business park and improve the site’s deliverability to occupiers. We are looking forward to securing planning consent and starting work on another prime unit.”

James Morgan, Managing Director for MiTek's EMEA operations, added: "As demand for offsite construction continues to grow, this building will provide the manufacturing capacity to support the continued growth of our customers across Europe, as well as providing spaces that inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and drive innovation."

Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills at Worcestershire County Council, said: "I'm delighted to see this new development at Worcester Six. MiTek is the sort of business that we want to see more of in Worcestershire, bringing high tech manufacturing jobs to the county. We look forward to welcoming them when their new site is operational.”

Cllr Richard Morris, Executive Board Member for Economic Growth and Tourism on Wychavon District Council, said: “This investment is a fantastic vote of confidence in Worcester Six and Wychavon as a place to do business. It will be a welcome addition to the many world class businesses that already call our district home.”

The scheme’s retained agents are Harris Lamb and BNP Paribas Real Estate.
