Grant Thornton LLP Southampton has appointed Saints FC events pro Melissa Jones to lead coordination and promotion of its collaborative working space at Southampton Science Park in Chilworth.

Jones’ experience at Southampton FC in new business and event planning - dealing with corporate, consumer and charity clients - attracted Grant Thornton when looking to expand its team at the south’s first collaborative work environment.

“I was immediately attracted to the role largely due to the firm’s ‘Vibrant Economy’ and ‘Shared Enterprise’ strategies. Having the opportunity to be creative and contribute to the growth of the workspace is really exciting. The variety of clients and being able to work with different colleagues on different projects will definitely ensure no two days are the same,” said Jones, 26.

Norman Armstrong, partner at the Southampton office, said: “We created this role to essentially be the hub of all knowledge regarding the workspace. The ethos of the environment to connect businesses in the region will be reflected in Melissa’s role and she will lead in connecting those who use the space whether that’s in person, through social media or alternative marketing methods. I have seen this role work wonderfully at other Grant Thornton collaborative working spaces and we’re thrilled to have Melissa on board and see her make the role her own here.”

Residing in Hedge End, Melissa Jones is excited to bring her skill set of business development and event management to Grant Thornton and look to unlock new areas of growth and achievement for the firm.

With free wi-fi, coffee and a range of spaces and pods for meetings, discussions or an opportunity to work in a shared space, Grant Thornton hopes to encourage lots of exciting interactions. Use of the space is free to businesses and networks which share the firm’s vision for an innovative, connected and collaborative region on the south coast.
