SEGRO’s plans to develop the first multi-storey building in Slough have been approved.

Real estate and investment trust company SEGRO will develop the SEGRO V-Park Leigh Road, the company will be able to go ahead with the next stage of their plans to grow the trading estate.

The development is predicted to provide almost 400 jobs in the area. In addition to this, the previous brownfield site will turn into Slough Trading Estate’s tallest building.

SEGRO stated that the building will eventually become a hub for small and start-up businesses and start a training programme so that the community can benefit from the scheme.

Managing director of SEGRO’s Thames Valley branch, James Craddock, highlighted Slough Trading Estate’s popularity and attractiveness for a diverse range of businesses in the area.

Craddock said: “Throughout its 100-year history, the Slough Trading Estate has continually evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of the companies that call it their home.

“With a lack of available land to expand outwards to accommodate this demand, this innovative development marks an important step-change in how we can intensify space vertically to facilitate investment, employment opportunities, business rate contributions and economic growth in Slough.”

The development will include meeting rooms, work spaces, a café and welfare facilities for showering and changing.

In addition to this, the multi-storey building will feature a green roof and solar panels to generate power and over 10 percent of car parking spaces will have electric vehicle charging points, as well as a rainwater harvesting facility.

The company said that they would also help their customers through hosting events centered around advice on finance, recruitment, innovation and legislation.

Their training programmes will include work experience, career talks and site visits.
