Lovell has awarded HBS Group Southern the contract to design, install and maintain all plumbing and heating and electrical services for 225 new homes being built at its fast-paced Bulford site, a development of Service Family Accommodation on Salisbury Plain.

The Bulford development forms part of a contract worth around £250 million awarded to Lovell by the Ministry of Defence to build a total of 917 new homes, with further schemes now under construction at sites in Larkhill and Ludgershall.

Targeting a handover rate of eight new homes a week, Bulford will provide first-class living accommodation for the service personnel and their families, who are relocating from Germany by 2020. All new homes are being built using a traditional timber frame solution, and will boast an energy performance equivalent to Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

The M&E contract award follows on from the recent success of HBS New Energies being selected as the Bulford scheme’s solar PV contractor.

John Leary, major projects director, Lovell, said: ‘‘We are delighted to welcome HBS to join our supply chain for the SFA scheme at Salisbury Plain. This multi-disciplinary team provides us with an effective ‘one-stop shop’ for all the above ground services with the homes at the Bulford site. We very much look forward to developing our relationship as we progress the project together over the next 12 months.’’

With the capacity in place to deliver the required 225 units within 12 months, HBS Group’s Mechanical and Electrical management teams will control, monitor and provide all necessary resources to support the completion of around 32 new homes per month.
