A vision for the future of Reading in 2050 will be launched tomorrow, October 18, at the new Thames Lido. The Reading 2050 Vision will outline an ambitious, smart and sustainable future for Reading, placing green technology, culture and diversity and the town’s rivers and parks at the heart of its future development.
The Reading 2050 Vision project has been led by Reading UK, design and planning consultancy Barton Willmore and the University of Reading.
The launch event will include a presentation on the vision by Nigel Horton-Baker, Reading UK; a glimpse into 2050 with a short play, back from the future, by Berzerk Production; and computer animations as three recognisable views of Reading evolve year by year from 2017 to 2050 in line with the three vision themes of Green Tech City, City of Culture and Diversity and City of Rivers and Parks.
Delegates will be able to explore the interactive vision on giant iPads, and hear some of the 'headlines' about Reading from the year 2050
