Property pros share industry insight at MSP Capital Utilita Bowl brunch
South Coast property professionals gathered at the Utilita Bowl last week for a seminar with a dual focus on women in surveying and predictions for the construction sector.
Hosted by MSP Capital in partnership with Hampshire building consultancy Sillence Hurn, the ‘Brunch & Learn’ morning attracted developers, surveyors, valuation experts and lawyers.
Guests heard presentations from two senior figures at Sillence Hurn – MD Alex Hurn and head of residential services Chloe Hylton.
Chloe’s talk on women in surveying highlighted the benefits for property companies of having a more diverse workforce with a greater range of insight, expertise and experience.

She encouraged employers in the audience to consider more options for ongoing professional development to help women advance in their property careers.
Alex went on to outline some of the pressures faced by the residential property industry in recent times, predicting an uptick in activity this year driven by extensive brownfield remediation among other factors.
He warned that skills shortages would continue to impact the UK construction sector and called for greater investment in skills. Alex also encouraged property colleagues to collaborate and network.

Last week’s event was the third from the business under its ESG strategy Foundations for Better Futures (FFBF), launched last year.
It’s aiming to support the property sector through educational seminars, providing opportunities to highlight and share key issues.
