Portsmouth: Delivery giant DPD moves in at Dunsbury Park

International parcel delivery giant DPD is the latest tenant of Portsmouth City Council's award-winning business development Dunsbury Park.

DPD has taken a brand new 38,000 sq ft unit built by the council on the parkland site it is developing next to junction 3 of the A3(M).

DPD's new warehouse will help the UK's leading parcel delivery company to increase efficiency and expand its operations on the south coast.

DPD general manager Louise Ferguson said: “Dunsbury Park is a great location for us and forms part of our ongoing investment programme to expand our network to keep up with demand for our services. 

"This new depot will increase our capacity in the area and support our existing depots in the region to ensure we continue to maintain the high level of service our customers have come to expect.”

DPD hopes to employ more than 50 staff at Dunsbury and will start operations next month when it will join global clothing retailer Fat Face and Volkswagen specialists Breeze Motor Group at the 45-acre site.

Leader of the council Gerald Vernon-Jackson said: "Dunsbury's all about generating rental income for our services from the land we own in Havant and boosting jobs and the local economy.

"Welcoming another prestigious brand like DPD shows that our plans for Dunsbury are moving in the right direction and that we're competing well in a tough market.

"Our in-house development and property teams have done a great job delivering a speculatively built unit to a high standard, on budget and to deadline, and finding a high calibre tenant for that unit so quickly.

"We look forward to watching Dunsbury grow from strength to strength for the benefit of the local community and for the benefit of the residents of Portsmouth who rely on the vital services we provide."

DPD's new unit includes fitted office space, car park, passenger lift, reception area and 10m clear internal height.

Dunsbury offers manufacturing, industrial, distribution and office units up to 200,000 sq ft in a prime employment location with a modern business park feel which retains the inherent natural character of the surrounding woodland.

Landowner and developer Portsmouth City Council has planning permission to develop 665,000 sq ft and the wider site also has provision for hotel and conference facilities totalling 60,000 sq ft.

Dunsbury is served by a custom-built link road. All 45-acres have been levelled and are served by high voltage power supply in excess of 9MVA, high speed broadband, mains water and gas.

The council was represented in the transaction by Lambert Smith Hampton.
