Acting on behalf of client Cornerstone, leading commercial property agents VSL & Partners has secured a further two lettings at Oxford Industrial Park to Baker Hughes and First Light Fusion.

Oxford University spin-out company First Light Fusion is developing technology for fusion as it believes it can achieve a realistic prospect for affordable electricity generation.  The company will occupy Unit 10 comprising 20,600 sq ft incorporating high office content at £9.25 per sq ft.

Unit 15 has been let to Baker Hughes, an oilfield service company that delivers solutions that help oil and gas operators make the most of their reservoirs. The company, which has recently merged with US Halliburton, will occupy 14,354 sq ft of modern industrial accommodation. Savills acted on behalf of Baker Hughes.

The Oxford Industrial Park is a secure site providing a total of 250,000 sq ft of high-end production and warehouse space and has always had a strong focus towards hi-tech users with many buildings occupied by science and technology companies.  Home to world-class tech companies like Agilent Technologies, Oxford Bio-Medica and OGM, the park is going from strength to strength.

Tom Barton, director at VSL has been involved with the site since it was developed by Brixton Estates in 1998.  He said:  “Demand for good quality units is outstripping supply.  This is particularly the case for science and technology companies that need to be more agile in order to react to changing markets. They require flexibility to allow them to evolve their technology and the building needs to be able to evolve with them.  Although not regarded as a science park, Oxford Industrial Park provides the perfect home for these businesses by allowing them building flexibility at affordable prices.”

VSL is currently marketing a further 40,000 sq ft of high-quality industrial/warehouse accommodation between two units at Oxford Industrial Park.
