MKM celebrates Newbury store opening with charity pledge
Builder’s merchant MKM is celebrating the opening of its new Newbury store by pledging its support for a local charity.
To mark the opening of its new Hambridge Road location, MKM has chosen to back Swings & Smiles, which supports children with special needs and their families, with the branch donating £1,000. The charity, which has been operating for 15 years, currently supports more than 1,100 charities across Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Berkshire.
Jo Ramsay, Senior Fundraiser & Volunteer Manager at Swings & Smiles, said: “For us to build a relationship with MKM Newbury right from the start of their journey is so important. We want to make long term local relationships and partnerships, so we’re delighted that the team has chosen to support us.”

Branch Director Chris said: “We’re delighted to officially open the doors of our new Newbury branch and become part of the MKM family.
“The MKM way brings a completely fresh and exciting approach to merchanting and all the team here are looking forward to welcoming customers from both trade and the general public.
“To us our job is not only to support our customers with a friendly and first-class service, but to also make a significant contribution to the local community.
“We want to work with charities and causes that are close to our heart. Swings & Smiles do incredible work, and we are proud to be able to make a contribution to support their work as we start our journey.”
