HS2 agrees £10m IT infrastructure deal
HS2 has recently signed a contract worth over £10 million with NTT Data, a Japanese IT provider, to manage its IT infrastructure for the next three years.
The contract, which runs until December 2025, will see NTT Data serve as a "management partner" for the IT infrastructure being used in the rail project.
High Speed Two Limited, the government-funded company responsible for overseeing the project, has already spent millions of pounds on IT contracts with various providers since the project began in 2017.

In the past two years, HS2 has also awarded other IT contracts including a £1.5 million deal with Deloitte for a data ingestion platform, a £16 million contract with Atos for IT support, and a £5.6 million agreement for ERP software from IBM.
NTT Data has existing contracts with various government clients, including the Insolvency Service, Crown Commercial Service, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, Home Office, and Crown Prosecution Service.
The HS2 project, which was first proposed by the Labour government in 2009, aims to build a high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham, and then on to Crewe, by 2033 at the latest. The extension of the network from Crewe to Manchester is scheduled to be completed by 2045.
