Musicians from a commercial property consultancy in Hampshire strutted their stuff on stage at a legendary concert venue in London.
The Hughe Fighters punk band from Hughes Ellard, the independent firm with offices in Fareham and Southampton, competed in a battle-of-the-bands showdown for charity at the 100 Club in Oxford Street, London.
Rock giants who have gigged there include The Who, Rolling Stones, Oasis, New York Dolls and Kings of Leon, with Green Day interviewed just before the live event.
Following in their high-octane footsteps, in front of hundreds of people, including a coachload of colleagues from Hampshire, Hughe Fighters took on legal professionals playing in bands called Practical Law, SMAB, Clyde & Co and Marks & Clerk.
Russell Mogridge, Hughe Fighters’ drummer and a director at Hughes Ellard, said: “We’ve been practising long enough to realise we are better off retaining our careers in commercial real estate.
“However, this was a great opportunity, and certainly a nerve-racking one, to perform punky cover singles in a celebrated, atmospheric concert venue. We played our best and certainly did not disgrace Hampshire or ourselves.”
Mogridge was joined by work colleagues Tim Clark on bass guitar, Joe Walker on lead guitar, Carl Walker on rhythm guitar, Mary Pearson on vocals and Helen Jarvis as guest backing.
They raised money for Southampton General Hospital’s Smile4Wessex charity.
