The Ferndown Industrial Estate-based Horton Commercial has acquired the former 1.1 acre Marben Engineering site on Ferndown Industrial Estate. Horton Commercial, established in 1985 and currently based on the Estate, says that a total investment of £2 million will ensure that the new premises can meet the demand for the design and manufacture of specialist bodies for trucks and other commercial vehicles and anticipated projects.
Dave Wolfenden, founder and managing director, says that once refurbished, the Cobham Road site will be able to accommodate up to 30 commercial vehicles at a time.
“Thanks to the extra space, we expect to expand our current skilled workforce with the recruitment of an additional seven team members in the next six months to meet the demands.”
Having gained Whole Type Approval in 2013, Horton Commercial specialises in the repair of commercial vehicles and creates bespoke designs ranging from conversions and new build vehicle bodies for specialist companies and transport operators.
