New jobs are on the way at specialist Bromsgrove telecoms firm TMC Telecom after it expanded into new premises with the help of commercial property agents John Truslove.

TMC Telecom provides broadband, mobile, landline and VOIP internet phone services to companies large and small nationwide, as well as a growing number of schools.

Growth in demand over the last couple of years had seen the firm outgrow its old offices.

Ben Truslove, joint managing director at John Truslove, worked with TMC founders Simon Thomas and Aimee Maddison to help them secure new offices at The Courtyard, on the Harris Business Park at Stoke Prior.

The company has taken a three-year lease on 1,074 sq ft of offices at 2 The Courtyard.

Simon said: “It more than doubles the amount of space we have and means we can look to recruit another four or five people this year to strengthen our six-strong team.

“It’s a very attractive site with easy access to the motorway system, and with Birmingham on the doorstep, which is a big boost when it comes to recruitment.

“We are a small firm but that makes us very nimble and flexible; there’s not a lot of red tape and paperwork to get in the way so businesses that use ourselves get the connectivity, mobile and phone systems and they need very quickly and efficiently.”

The company, with 20 years’ experience of the telecoms industry, is expecting a particularly busy time over the next couple of years.

“BT is switching off its old analogue and digital networks in 2025, meaning everyone will need to be using internet-delivered systems like VoIP. That’s just two years, but a lot of firms are still unaware of what it will mean," said Simon.

“At the same time we were very busy during Covid, as companies and schools expanded their ability to operate online, with many people working from home. And that trend has continued, so there’s a lot of work around supplying mobile phones and creating VoIP – Voice over Internet Protocol – systems and ethernet connectivity.

“It is that growth in workload that has driven our move to bigger premises, so we can recruit more people. We are now working with customers right across the Midlands and even nationwide.”

He added: “The help we had from Ben and the team at John Truslove helped the move go really smoothly. We had previously encountered all sorts of delays but John Truslove have been really great, very helpful, and we have a great relationship with our new landlord too.”

Ben Truslove added: “TMC Telecom is an ambitious and highly capable business that we have a strong relationship with. We worked with them on securing their previous premises back in 2013 but they had clearly outgrown them and needed room for expansion.

“We are delighted to have been able to help them take the next step in their growth and look forward to working with them in the future.

“At the same time, we are working with the landlord, MT James Ltd, on a rates appeal.

“This is the core of our operations: helping businesses find the premises we need, securing excellent tenants for our landlords and ensuring they can maximise the returns from their properties.”

SME Solicitors in Worcester provided legal advice to TMC Telecom.
