Business boost for local economy as Adanac Park, Southampton secures planning consent for Phase 2

More investment and local jobs are now on track for Southampton with the news Adanac Park North has received planning consent for Phase 2, providing an extra 140,000 sq ft of employment space.

The business park in Nursling is being developed by Hampshire property specialists Oceanic Estates and the high-quality design intent of Phase 1 will be repeated in the new units. Construction works will commence later this year for completion in the summer of 2022.

Phase 2 of the development includes two new flexible light industrial buildings, providing over 13,000 sq m of floor space and capable of subdivision into smaller business units to suit a range of occupiers.

Harry Hutchinson, director at Oceanic Estates, said: "After the overwhelming success of Phase 1 of the Adanac Business Park development, we are delighted to receive planning consent for a reserved matters application for Phase 2 of the business park.

"Phase one at Adanac Park has proved conclusively that it is a fantastic location for a wide variety of regional, national and international businesses to base themselves. Again, we will be building high quality, very smart looking commercial units."

Hutchinson added: "We have continued to work closely with Test Valley Borough Council who recognised the benefits of the development in this area which generates jobs and inward investment. Being so close to the port is a huge benefit with companies being able to import and export so easily."

South Coast architects Boyle and Summers has assisted in the design and delivery of the buildings on Phase 1 and have been heavily involved in planning of Phase 2.

Tony Boyle (pictured), director at Boyle and Summers, added: "We are very proud of these commercial buildings and their importance to the economic prosperity of the Southampton region. We are anticipating Phase 2 will be just as successful."

Following on from the success of Phase 1, which has been let to a range of national and international companies bringing much needed investment into the area, business leaders are optimistic that the new units will attract further inward investment into the area.

David Drew, Test Valley Borough Council’s economic development and tourism portfolio holder, said: "This is excellent news for the region. We are delighted to see inward investment of this scale and the jobs boost represent a major contribution to our economic recovery. My Council prides itself in its support for new businesses and in particular at Adanac which is fast becoming a beacon of high-quality business growth in south Hampshire."

Among the companies who have moved into Phase 1 are Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, Marine Guard, BBC Coffee, Parthian Climbing, and CIMC, a Chinese trailer company who selected 40,000 square feet at Adanac Park following a national search for the most suitable location.
