Brownfield site in Chichester poised for major scheme after planning decision
A largely brownfield site in the village of Nutbourne in Chichester, West Sussex looks set to be developed after Hampshire-based Metis Homes has secured detailed planning permission for 103 new homes and a 70-place children’s nursery on the 15.8 acre site.
The former scrapyard and associated buildings on the northern side of Main Road (A259), will be removed, and the area restored to a natural landscape, enabling a multi-functional 'Green Corridor'.

A children's nursery will also be built to support local childcare, which will also create new jobs.
Metis said it had taken over seven years of working alongside Chichester District Council and key stakeholders to reach this point.
"We are thrilled to have finally secured approval for our plans to develop and enhance this site to create not only new homes to meet local need but to also provide childcare and employment opportunities, and create attractive green spaces," said Adam O’Brien, managing director of Metis Homes.
"Responding to feedback from the local community and stakeholders on our initial proposals, our experienced team and expert consultants worked to deliver a sustainable scheme that aims to enhance the local area.
"After the best part of a decade to reach this milestone, we’re now looking forward to the concept becoming reality."
Designed by JTP Architects, the scheme consists of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes and one- and two-bedroom apartments. The mix is based on identified local needs and will include 20% affordable housing.
The site sits within easy walking distance to Southbourne village centre to the west, which provides shops, healthcare, and wider transport links.
Metis Homes, based in Fair Oak, was founded in 2008 and has been funded by the RO Group since its inception.
