Big Yellow self-storage development gets underway in Slough
Main contractor MCS Group has started construction of a major new self-storage facility in Berkshire.
Work is underway on site to deliver a Big Yellow 62,000 sq ft (MLA) unit in Farnham Road, Slough. Located at Slough Trading Estate, on the site of a former Sainsbury's store, it has a 35-week build programme.
The three-storey building is expected to reach practical completion in March 2024. Big Yellow will follow on to fit out the building for a store opening in Summer 2024.
Keir Edmonds, managing director at Warwick-based MCS Group, said: “We are really excited to have been appointed by Big Yellow to deliver this very high quality self-storage facility.
“Self-storage is a buoyant and growing sector and we are looking forward to working alongside Big Yellow to deliver this fantastic facility for the people of Slough. It’s great to see the construction team on site and work underway.”
Nigel Hartley, construction director at Surrey-based Big Yellow, said: “We are pleased to be working once again with MCS. The construction activities have started well and we are optimistic this will prove to be a successful partnership.”
