Looking back on its charity commitments in 2020, Hungerford-based developer David Wilson Homes Southern is celebrating the second year of its Community Fund scheme.

As part of the initiative, launched by parent company Barratt Developments, the five-star developer donated £1,000 to a charity or community group each month to support those in need during a challenging year.

Employees of David Wilson Homes each selected the organisations that were close to their hearts, ensuring a total of £12,000 was donated to charities within the homebuilder’s operational areas of Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

Amongst the charities receiving the £1,000 donations in the developer’s home county were Promise Inclusion, Daisy’s Dream, Time to Talk, West Berks Foodbank, Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre, Wade (Wokingham and District Association for the Elderly), Berkshire MS Therapy Centre, Riding for the Disabled Association and Floreat Montague Park Primary School.

Elsewhere, contributions were also made to Basingstoke Gym, Aldershot and Farnborough Guide Dogs and SOFEA, based in Didcot.

Paul Crispin, managing director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “The second year of our Community Fund scheme has been a great success and it’s been a privilege to support a number of excellent charities and organisations in what was a difficult year for everyone.

“We’re proud of our team for nominating the charities in need of funding as we continue to build strong relationships within the local community. As a leading housebuilder we are committed to creating a positive legacy. We want to lead the industry not just in the quality of the homes and developments we build, but also in our work with charities and good causes throughout the UK.”

In addition to its Community Fund donations, David Wilson Homes also made contributions to Wokingham Foodbank and Basingstoke Foodbank, all whilst fundraising for its Charity of the Year, St Michael’s Hospice.
