Barratt Homes builds presence in Gloucestershire
Midlands-based homebuilder Barratt Homes is building its presence in Gloucestershire with two new developments getting underway.
Work has already started on 144 dwellings, a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms, in Whittle Gardens in Innsworth following approval last month. The homes, which will go on sale in autumn of this year, will contribute to the wider Whittle Gardens community.
Meanwhile, a significant 420-home development in nearby Matson is progressing well. The mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses are again due to enter the market in autumn, with first completions expected early next year.
These new developments are supporting more than 1,700 jobs and 19 apprenticeships throughout their construction and will contribute more than £6.7 million in tax revenue and £630,000 in local tax revenue.
Barratt is also contributing above £3.2 million towards community facilities such as play areas, open spaces and education contributions.

Robert Hart, managing director for Barratt Homes Bristol, said: “Every day on our sites across Gloucestershire our experienced, skilled team are hard at work answering a demand for high quality, energy efficient, sustainable housing.
“Gloucestershire is surrounded by an area of natural beauty and we are proud to be supporting local economies and growing new communities. With new houses follows new jobs and we are proud to recruit from and around the communities in which we are building.”
Barratt Developments has also drawn attention to its recently reached milestone of 4,000 swift nesting bricks installed since 2016, with it now aiming to install a further 7,000 by 2025.
Wildlife is also a consideration of Barratt Homes’ current developments; it will be installing hedgehog highways and more than 100 bat and bird boxes at its Matson development.
Andrea Pilgrim, sales director for Barratt Homes Bristol, said: “We’re really excited to be able to build momentum with these new communities and build homes that have something for everyone, whether you’re a first time buyer, family starter or downsizer. Winnycroft and Whittle Gardens will allow residents to explore the hidden gems that Gloucester has to offer.”
