Energy market analysts Aurora Energy Research have signed a lease for their new global headquarters in St Aldate’s Chambers, Oxford.

The former home of Oxford City Council, the building is now set to undergo a comprehensive internal transformation courtesy office outfitters Morgan Lovell.

Cllr Ed Turner, cabinet member for finance and asset management, joined Aurora founder and CEO John Feddersen for a formal ceremony handing over the keys.

John said: “Securing this fantastic office space guarantees our home in Oxford for many years to come and marks a significant milestone for our business.

“Attracting and retaining top talent is paramount for our organisation, and providing an appealing and inviting space for in-person collaboration is an important element.”

Work is due for completion by September 2024.

Cllr Turner added: “We’re delighted to have leased St Aldate’s Chamber to Aurora Energy Research.

“For the council, it reduces our energy bill and provides a significant long-term income stream to help fund key services in an increasingly challenging financial environment.

“But it also enables the city to retain a growing local business, which provides high-quality jobs for Oxford residents and wider benefits to the city’s economy.”

The move comes ahead of the annual Aurora Spring Forum, which is set to attract influential figures in the global energy sector to Oxford this March.

They include Claire Coutinho, UK secretary of state for energy security and net zero; John Pettigrew, CEO of National Grid; and Luc Rémont, chairman and CEO of EDF.
