Local businesses and tenants of the Aldershot Enterprise Centre (AEC), as well as the Mayor of Rushmoor Borough Council, came together for the official opening of the AEC in central Aldershot.

The official date of opening has gone down as Friday 29 September.

Councillor Clive Grattan, Mayor of Rushmoor Borough Council, officially opened the centre via the cutting of a ribbon.

Speeches were made by Leader of the Council, David Clifford, Chair of WSX Developments Ltd, Ian Cambrook and Peter Grant, Chief Executive of WSX Developments Ltd.

David Clifford said: “We welcome this investment in Aldershot. The council was delighted to support WSX Developments Ltd in opening this newly refurbished facility. Ideally located in Aldershot town centre, and close to the railway station, the Centre will help to support small and growing businesses and help to secure the future prosperity of our borough.”

Local businesses, charities and councillors were able to tour the facilities available at the centre, enjoy food laid on by Chappies, the onsite café, as well as entertainment from Clive the Magician.

Lorna Oldham, Centre Manager was delighted with the turnout on the day:

“It’s wonderful to see so many people here today to see what we have on offer for the local business community. I am excited to continue the work that we began 9 years ago in our wonderful new building!”

Managed by WSX Developments, and with support from Rushmoor Borough Council, the Aldershot Enterprise Centre offers office space, meeting room hire, co-working space and a large modern café on site.

Aldershot Enterprise Centre tenant Laura Davis, CEO of the British Association for Supported Employment, said: “Since moving to the new office in the centre of Aldershot it's brought even greater benefits to me as a smaller charity. I'm connected into a community of other organisations so in terms of my own wellbeing and mental health I'm not isolated in the way that I could be in other offices.”
