Phyllis Court, based in Henley-on-Thames, has announced its eagerly anticipated Fitness Centre will officially open on Monday September 24 – almost 90 years after its founder, Roy Finlay, dreamt of introducing a swimming pool to the club.

After a year of build work, the facility will open its doors next month to offer members access to a 20-metre swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, an exercise studio and a saunarium, a combination of a sauna and a steam room. The centre will also include a therapy room for treatments.

The opening will be celebrated with a launch weekend on September 22 and 23, where members will be invited to enjoy exclusive tours of the new facility.

Fitness classes including Pilates, aqua fit and salsa and therapies such as beauty, physiotherapy and podiatry, will be available from 1 October.

The facility will be exclusive to Members for four months before potentially extending to guests staying at the club.

Phyllis Court Fitness Centre manager Adam Powell said: “The opening is the culmination of a lot of hard work and planning - and it looks fantastic. I can’t wait to open the doors and see members enjoying it.

“The opening of the Fitness Centre is momentous for the club, particularly since it was Roy Finlay, the Club Founder’s dream to have a swimming pool for members back in 1929 and now that dream is a reality.”
