Worcestershire-based security solutions company Ecl-ips has promoted senior engineer Stephen Gilbert to the new role of technical manager.

The creation of the technical manager post reflects the recent expansion of Ecl-ips, which is located in Stoke Prior near Bromsgrove, as it develops more integrated security and monitoring solutions including advanced intruder alarm, CCTV, access control and server room monitoring offerings.

Steve, who has been with the firm for 14 years, will continue to work within the Ecl-ips operations team. He will be providing support to managing director Aaron Kernaghan, and operations director Darren Roe on current and upcoming projects. Steve will be focusing on the design, delivery and approval for works for the installations.

Darren said: “Having been with Ecl-ips for 14 years, we are so pleased that he has continued to progress during this time. We are recognising Steve’s knowledge, loyalty to the company and his amazing appetite to learn and provide our customer base with the best solution for their needs.

“Steve has a great technical brain and a vast knowledge on the systems that we provide to our customers, he will also be testing new and current products that best suit our portfolio. His role will be vital to the continual growth of Ecl-ips.”

Steve enjoys testing new products and software to ensure they will meet the needs of Ecl-ips customers, while his experience with all our systems means he can quickly get on top of upgrades and changes. He is also keen to learn and train on the job, including adding intruder alarm systems to his wealth of knowledge in recent years.

An early advocate of online news, he spent the first years of the 2000s telling his bosses that the internet posed both the biggest opportunity and greatest threat to the newspaper industry and the art of journalism. He was right on both counts.

Since 2006 he has enjoyed a career as a freelance journalist. He lives in rural Wiltshire with one wife, two children, and three cats.
