Gateley Legal, a law firm with offices in Guildford and Reading, has made a two appointments to bolster the expansion of its South East planning team.

Amanda Brodie has been appointed as a senior associate at the Guildford branch. Amanda has held positions at both Russell-Cooke Solicitors and DAC Beachcroft. Her experience has seen her advise on all aspects of planning law and act for a wide range of clients including private developers, charities and national housebuilders.

Andrew Piatt, partner and national head of planning at Gateley, said: “Our planning team has seen a significant increase in instructions across the South East, so we have continued to expand and develop our London and Guildford teams with two key appointments.

''Working closely with Keith and the Guildford team, Amanda will play a pivotal role in expanding our footprint across the wider South East area.”

Karen Howard joins Gateley as a partner in the London office. She brings 40 years of advising experience and has particular expertise in large-scale property development. Karen previously worked for DLA Piper and Shoosmiths

Both appointments form part of the firm's strategic plans to strengthen the service offering for its rapidly growing client base.

Andrew Piatt added: “Karen brings a wealth of experience to further our presence within the dynamic London market, which is buzzing with development activity and has an abundance of opportunities.''

Gateley Legal advises a wide range of clients on all aspects of planning work including residential development and infrastructure projects, public highways and compulsory purchase and compensation.

Tom Kilkelly started working as a freelance journalist for The Business Magazine following his graduation from UCL in 2022.
