Oxfordshire-based WAE Technologies, the world-leading technology and engineering services business, has launched battery intelligence software Elysia.

The software is designed to unlock significant improvements in the life, safety, usable energy, power, and rapid charging times of any battery system.

Elysia draws on WAE’s unrivalled experience in high-performance batteries, gleaned from the sole supply of batteries to ground-breaking electric motorsport series, as well as the design and development of batteries for electric hypercars and mining trucks.

Elysia Commercial Lead, Joe Jones, said: “The battery in any electric vehicle of any kind represents the single most valuable system by far. Better understanding of battery systems will transform how we manage them, in order to realise their full potential.”

WAE Technologies CEO, Craig Wilson, said: “One of the most crucial components of our leadership is the software which has enabled these vehicles to set new performance standards.

"At WAE’s core is the commitment to transferring new technology from motorsport to other sectors - so I am delighted we have launched Elysia today. The electric mobility market is growing quickly, and battery intelligence is the key to unlocking the potential of what is the most fundamental part of an EV.”

An early advocate of online news, he spent the first years of the 2000s telling his bosses that the internet posed both the biggest opportunity and greatest threat to the newspaper industry and the art of journalism. He was right on both counts.

Since 2006 he has enjoyed a career as a freelance journalist. He lives in rural Wiltshire with one wife, two children, and three cats.
