A Cirencester dining venue and social hotspot has announced a food partnership with Indian food supremo – Foyez Rahman.

Andy Sampson owner of Somewhere Else in Castle Street and Foyez have often considered a pop-up collaboration so, with Covid-19 restrictions continuing to impact on the hospitality sector, they saw this as an opportune time to team up.

“We’ve been in constant touch with our regulars through social media,” commented Andy owner of Somewhere Else “The resounding sentiment is that they can’t wait to get back to some form of social life and booking their first meal out, even under restricted circumstances will be the first call many will make”.

Somewhere Else, known for cocktails, tapas, contemporary brunch and lunchtime fare have partnered with Mr Rahman’s culinary team to create Asha Indian Kitchen and Somewhere East, an Asian influenced offering. “Whilst we appreciate that we will be restricted to deliveries, click and collect and takeaway in the short term, we believe that Asha will give our combined friends and clientele a taste of luxury under lockdown, with the prospect of more exciting developments to follow,” added Andy.

Asha, which translates as ‘Hope and Prospect’, is “a fusion of two different food cultures resulting in a contemporary style, a merging of Asian flare and flavours with fast moving UK and European culinary trends,” said business partner - Foyez Rahman. “It is a great opportunity to bring my family with me, my uncle, Khaled Miah, has been cooking great Indian food in the area since 1980 and before that was at a great restaurant that really set the trend in West Kensington.”

All day brunch’s, lunches and light bites will still be a staple for returning regulars, when restrictions are lifted, as well as favourite tandoor dishes and ever popular staples including madras, bhuna and Biryani.

Somewhere Else is part of the Relish Group, which also includes The Gateway Café, The Waterside Kitchen and Bar, both on the Cotswold lakes, The Old Prison in Northleach, Sally Pussey’s Inn, Royal Wootton Bassett and Jack’s Kitchen and Tearooms.

Another arm of the group is Relish Catering, and under the guidance of Relish business partners, Philippa Sawyer and Rob Goves they have been able to help shape the new menu and food ideas.

Deliveries, Collections and Takeaways started on Wednesday 27 January.

Opening hours- Weds, Thurs, Sun 5pm to 9pm / Fri & Sat 5pm to 9.30pm.
