Moreton Show is back this year on Saturday 4th September
After Moreton Show was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID, the team are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Moreton Show is a go for this year.
Moreton Show is a premier one-day agricultural show, set in the heart of the North Cotswolds. It has been established for over 70 years and is now one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the country attracting more than 20,000 visitors.
The show, prides itself on its traditional values, providing a stage for local produce and crafts whilst delivering an entertaining and educational day out for all visitors.
Moreton Show was first held in 1949, on the same site it has occupied ever since - part of the Batsford Estate - although it has been much extended over the years. Its underlying purpose is to improve the standard of farming and farm crafts locally. This zeal for improvement was at the core of the three societies which merged to form the present Moreton-in-Marsh Show Society - the Cotswold Agricultural Society, The Moreton Shire Horse Society and the Moreton-in-Marsh and District Agricultural Society.
The remarkable thing about Moreton Show, and something that is not commonly known, is how many volunteers are involved, not just on Show Day, but throughout the whole year. In a way it is this joint effort that makes the Show have a different feel to some of the other bigger shows. There is a real sense of the whole community coming together to enjoy a day out and share interests and experiences. Almost all the town gets involved in one way or another and competitions are held amongst the shops on the High Street.
Jess Parkes, Horse and Sponsorship Secretary, said: ‘We are planning on bringing back pretty much the whole show in its entirety, with widened aisle ways and new shopping avenues to replace previous covered marquees. The Grand Arena will have its usual full timetable with Paul Hannam Quadbike Stunt Show and the famous Livestock Grand Parade as its highlights.’
With so much to look forward to at Moreton Show 2021 it’s time to get excited.
