The Lucky Onion is having a busy month as it reopens not one but two Cotswold pubs, having invested millions of pounds in buying, refurbishing and  bringing them back up to the modern standards expected, while preserving the historic buildings.

The Hollow Bottom at Guiting Power, a 17th Century Cotswold stone pub which has been a staple part of the racing community for decades, had its official opening this week. And later this month the listed Crown at Minchinhampton will reopen, after closing down five years ago.

The opening of the Hollow Bottom will allow the community and racing fans to once again celebrate during Cheltenham’s renowned race weeks, with leading trainers Nigel Twiston-Davies, Jonjo O’Neil and Fergal O’Brian living close by.

The Crown, an 18th century building,  originally opened in 1715.  Best known as HRH Princess Anne’s local, says the Lucky Onion, and a stone’s throw from Gatcombe Park, guests might find themselves rubbing shoulders with royalty around the wood-burning stove.

Julian Dunkerton, The Lucky Onion’s owner and Superdry co-founder, said: “It is our ongoing commitment to restore historic buildings in the Cotswolds and Cheltenham. Racing is the heart of the local community as is The Hollow Bottom, we have gone above and beyond to ensure that locals and visitors are able to continue to celebrate both.”

The Lucky Onion group, owned by Jade and Julian Dunkerton, owns a portfolio of boutique hotels and  country pubs in the Cotswolds. The Lucky Onion collective includes boutique hotels No. 131, and No. 38 The Park, in Cheltenham, as well as critically acclaimed The Wheatsheaf in Northleach, and restaurants The Tavern and The Wild Duck. The Hollow Bottom and The Crown are the latest additions to the company's roster.
