Employees from Gloucester-based insurer Ecclesiastical took time out of their day to tidy up and improve a neglected green space near its new head office site.

Working with Hucclecote Parish Council and housing developers, Ecclesiastical identified a green area behind its new office at Gloucester Business Park in Brockworth which was in need of tidying up and improving. Employees helped to clear away weeds and brambles, and planted daffodil bulbs along a pathway which will be visible from its new offices. The work of the volunteers was supervised by local landscaping contractor Charlton Abbotts.

The new head office is currently under construction and is due to welcome employees in late 2020.

Next year, Ecclesiastical has ambitions to work with partners to install a fitness trail and benches for the local community to enjoy.

Chris Pitt, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Ecclesiastical, said: “Ecclesiastical is unlike any other financial services group – owned by a charity, our core purpose is to contribute to the greater good of society. We’re committed to giving back and investing in improving our local community and we’re delighted to be working with Hucclecote Parish Council to spruce up the local area. This is just the beginning – our ambition in 2020 is to work with partners to install a fitness trail and benches for everyone to enjoy.”

David Bentley, Parish Councillor at Hucclecote Parish Council, said: “We are delighted to have developed such a good partnership with Ecclesiastical and volunteers from the company have already made a huge difference. By 2020, they’ll have transformed the area into an attractive wild flower corridor and the new Trim Trail will be a great new asset for people who live and work nearby.”

Ecclesiastical staff gave more than £340,000 to good causes in 2018 through personal grants and matched donations for fundraising and payroll giving as part of the company’s ‘MyGiving’ scheme.

This year, Ecclesiastical launched its second Impact Report to celebrate some of the many good causes it’s helped.
