Southampton’s Womble Bond Dickinson joins The Solent Cluster
Southampton-based international law firm Womble Bond Dickinson has become the first law firm to join The Solent Cluster, the first major decarbonisation initiative in the Solent and Southern England.
The law firm joins with the ambition of playing a major role in The Solent Cluster’s contribution to the UK’s move towards Net Zero in 2050.
Energy partner in Womble Bond Dickinson’s Southampton office Jo Beattie-Edwards said: "We're proud to be the first law firm to join The Solent Cluster. WBD's energy team has been immersed in the energy sector for decades, giving us deep sectoral knowledge and wide ranging experience.
‘’Carbon reduction is central to WBD’s ESG strategy. 80 per cent of the electricity used by the company is from renewable sources.
‘’As a firm leading the way on green change and advising a wide range of clients on the delivery of clean and innovative energy projects in the UK and across the globe, we look forward to contributing to The Solent Cluster as a member, sharing our expertise, and building on the huge progress already made."
55 organizations are already signed up to The Solent Cluster; the initiative aims to capture approximately 3 million metric tonnes of CO2 every year. The sheer scale of the cluster's initiative will place the Solent and Southern England at the centre of the UK’s decarbonization effort.
Ranking in the UK's Top 20 law firms, WBD advises clients across many sectors of expertise from eight offices in the UK and 23 offices in the US.
