Work is to begin on the roll out of 62 new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points across South Oxfordshire.
Engineers will be begin installing the first tranche of charging points at Cattlemarket car park in Wallingford this week with the roll out across county-owned car parks expected to be completed by the end of March.
Councillor Sue Cooper, South Oxfordshire District Council Cabinet member for Environment, Climate Change and Nature Recovery, said: “This is good news for Wallingford, especially those nearby who don’t have access to a charger at home and, of course, for our environment. It will be a relief for anyone with an electric car which needs charging who comes here.”
The roll out is part of a drive by South Oxfordshire District Council to provide overnight charging facilities to residents who do not have their own off-street parking.
