Banbury-based mobile phone accessories manufacturer juice is offering its support to those who have been hospitalised due to COVID-19 by helping them keep in contact with their loved ones.

The firm has donated hundreds of chargers to various hospitals and medical centres across the Oxfordshire region, with the aim of providing an essential link during a time when it has never been more important to stay connected with friends and family.

Horton General Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, John Radcliffe Main, John Radcliffe Children’s Hospital and Churchill Hospital have all received deliveries of juice mains chargers, giving patients the vital means to stay online and remain in contact with home.

Jolyon Bennett, CEO of juice, said: “The entire country continues to face unprecedented challenges and increased uncertainty as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, and for those who are stuck in hospital having contracted the virus, the impact is likely to be much more significant.

“We know that being admitted to hospital under the current circumstances can be disconcerting, made even more difficult by the ‘no visiting’ rule. With COVID patients also prohibited from taking personal items into hospital, many are feeling isolated as a result of being disconnected from loved ones, especially during such a frightening time.

“Providing those in need with the power to stay connected was a no brainer – it was the least we could do. We really hope that our chargers will keep patients connected and online so that they can stay in regular contact with their friends and family throughout their stay in hospital.”

Emily Waddell, Community Fundraising Manager at Oxford Hospitals Charity, added: “Something as simple as being able to charge your phone to speak to loved ones can easily be taken for granted – but we know right now it is more important than ever.

“When our patients find themselves taken into hospital, grabbing their phone charger is not always the first thing on their mind, but being without a charged phone and unable to communicate with friends and family can easily make patients feel cut off.

“Working with juice has been an absolute pleasure. Their determination to help our patients stay connected with their friends and family has meant that we have been able to provide these free chargers – both Apple and Android – to most of our wards across all of the hospitals we support.”

Last April, juice became the first UK mobile phone accessories retailer to completely remove single-use plastic packaging from its products. The firm also won a number of prestigious awards, including ‘Best Accessories Manufacturer’ at the Mobile News Awards 2020, as well as two titles at the Cherwell Business Awards 2020, including ‘Ellacotts Business Person of the Year’.’

Originally launched as ‘Gusto Telecom Solutions’ 11 years ago, juice maintained its market leading position throughout 2020, despite the global pandemic.
