278 acre solar farm green lit in Oxfordshire
South Oxfordshire District Council has given the go ahead to construct a solar farm spanning over 150 football pitches.
The Dodswells Solar Farm project will see 278 acres of land near Milton Common and Tetsworth turned into a sustainable power farm.
Electric energy company Opdenergy believes the farm will generate enough energy to power a maximum of 13,500 homes per year.

There has been some opposition to the proposed farm by local residents and Great Milton, Great Haseley and Tetsworth parish councils.
The concern of these parties is that the proposed solar farm will be too big and have an adverse effect on the biodiversity of the surrounding country side.
In response to these concerns William Sparling, Case Officer for South Oxfordshire District Council, said: ''The construction of these panels avoids the loss of the best and most versatile agricultural land, retain agriculture within and between solar panels, propose biodiversity enhancements, tree planting and suitably mitigate other possible impacts arising from the proposal.''
