Merger of regional operators to create The Coach Travel Group backed by H2 Equity Partners

The Coach Travel Group (CTG) is the result of the strategic amalgamation of seven UK regional coach operators to create a national group.

The seven are Alpine Travel, Barnes Coaches, Coatham Coaches, JH Coaches, Johnsons Coaches, Swans Travel and The Ready Group. The new group is focused on delivering an ambitious growth strategy and providing a best-in-class customer service.

The merger was backed by H2 Equity Partners, and following completion, H2 will work closely with CTG to leverage the combined strengths of the seven operators and drive investment in its people, fleet and technology.

FRP's corporate finance team, led by director Alex Hunton, consultant Dave Howes and assistant manager Cameron Robertson, acted as the lead adviser from start to finish, helping to form the strategy and bring the seven operators together, including approaching investors and helping to navigate the complexities of merging the different groups.

Mills & Reeve were the legal advisers to all Sellers whilst Eversheds (legal) and Grant Thornton (financial and tax) advised the Buyer and H2.

Tom Stables, CEO of The Coach Travel Group, said: "Today marks a significant milestone not only for our group but for the UK coach travel industry; by bringing together these renowned and trusted, regional operators under one roof, we are setting the stage for an unparalleled travel experience.

"We’re committed to being at the forefront of the industry, ensuring every mile travelled with us is a testament to the quality and innovation we stand for."
