Continuing the expansion of its commercial team, Eric Robinson Solicitors in Southampton has appointed employment law specialist Thomas Hunt to its Southampton office in Carlton Crescent.
Ever since studying law at the University of East Anglia, Hunt has had an enthusiasm and passion for employment law.
"During my course, I was fortunate to be taught by Professor Ian Smith, who is one of the UK’s leading authorities in the profession," he explained. "He was a real inspiration and his lectures on employment law and negligence were fascinating."
Hunt graduated in 2005, before achieving his LPC with commendation from the Inns of Court School of Law in Gray’s Inn.
After spending a year with the Home Office, specialising in judicial review cases before the High Court, he moved to Basingstoke to embark on two years’ training and, in 2009, began his career as a fully-qualified solicitor, advising and assisting a wide range of commercial clients from FT100 companies to small businesses in litigation and employment matters.
He said: "I have always enjoyed the balance between the commercial and human sides of employment law. It is both businesses and individual careers that need to be protected. While much of my work focuses on commercial clients, I do maintain a number of cases for employees as I think it is important to maintain empathy and understanding for both sides."
Hunt joins the team at Eric Robinson Solicitors as a senior solicitor and head of employment/immigration.
"I have been really impressed with the firm and its forward-thinking approach to legal services,” he added. "People have been really welcoming and I am very much enjoying this brand new challenge."
