Law firm Blake Lapthorn has promoted a clinical negligence solicitor with a wealth of experience to the position of partner.

Kym Provan trained with the firm and qualified in 2004 as a specialist clinical negligence solicitor. She was promoted to senior solicitor in 2008 and senior associate in May 2013 for her excellent management skills and contribution to developing the firm's standing in this specialist sector.

Based at the firm’s Southampton office, Provan has been a keen contributor in developing and expanding the Blake Lapthorn claims website from its start, writing regular blogs, article and case studies and encouraging others to do so. Her work on the site has led to numerous inquiries, referrals and work.

Provan is listed for the first time in Chambers 2014 as a "leader in her field" which is a significant achievement in just under 10 years.  She is described as an "extremely capable star associate" and as being "straightforward and very efficient, with an excellent manner".

She has successfully pursued claims for clients with a wide range of injuries, against individual practitioners, NHS Trusts and private hospitals.

Last year, Provan organised a successful 'Trekathon' in aid of the Southern Spinal Injuries Trust, persuading a team of 12 from the personal injury practice group to hike over 26 miles. Together they raised over £2,500 for the charity, as well as media coverage in local and business press, raising the profile of the firm and practice area.

Stephen Murfitt, chairman and senior partner, commented: "I would like to congratulate Kym on her well-deserved promotion.  It's again very rewarding to see a former trainee develop their potential with the firm.  Kym has excellent professional, team management and business development skills.  Please join me in wishing her continued success as she embarks on her role as a partner."

Morgan Cole and Blake Lapthorn will merge to create ‘Blake Morgan’ on July 1, 2014.
