Reading: Boyes Turner revenues rise by 4.5%
In the first six months of the 2009-10 financial year Boyes Turner's revenue rose by 4.5%, continuing the positive momentum of the previous year which saw it record an overall growth of 5.2% - well above the industry average of 1.7%.
According to a report published in The Lawyer this week however, some of the industry's most successful law firms are not faring so well. Magic circle firm Allen & Overy's interim figures show a revenue fall of 7%. Eversheds, the UK's largest national law firm, reported a 6% drop, whilst leading City firm Simmons and Simmons saw revenue figures plummet by 16%. It is also understood that Lovells and Norton Rose are predicting flat revenues for the period.
Chief executive Andrew Chalkley put the firm's strong position down to having a balanced business coupled with a willingness to invest for the long term and a wholehearted commitment to marketing. “We are a diverse and therefore resilient firm, not by happy accident, but by deliberate strategy. Experience has taught us not to be complacent and smug but to keep things under constant review and be ready to spot and exploit opportunities that the economic climate presents.”
The firm's management was also recognised at an industry level. In the 2009 FT Innovative Lawyers report published last month it was named as one of the UK's top five “standout” firms for Innovative Management alongside Linklaters - the world's largest law firm with an annual turnover of £1.3 billion - and regional heavyweight Osborne Clarke, a firm which has over 800 people and an £84 million turnover.
Boyes Turner's other recent accolades include being short listed for Regional Law Firm of the Year at The British Legal Awards; listed as a finalist in the Growing Business category at the CBI Human Capital Awards; winning Second and third places at the Managing Partners’ Forum European Practice Management Awards for Business Development campaign of
