Reading: Boyes Turner pulls out of merger talks
As expected by the professional community, Reading-based law firm Boyes Turner has confirmed it has pulled out of three-way merger talks with Blake Lapthorn and Morgan Cole.
Observers told The Business Magazine that the least likely outcome was for Boyes Turner to be part of the tripartite arrangement. And in a statement issued before Christmas, Boyes Turner said: ”After careful consideration we have decided to withdraw from the preliminary discussions that have been taking place with Blake Lapthorn and Morgan Cole.
“We understand that the talks between Blake Lapthorn and Morgan Cole will continue. We hold both firms in the highest regard, wishing them well for the future. Boyes Turner will however continue to consider a range of strategic options in this dynamic legal environment.”
Blake Lapthorn and Morgan Cole appears a "good fit" to professionals in the area. The merger would probably mean the two firms occupying one office in Oxford, one in Reading, one in London and one on the south coast.
Boyes Turner will continue to focus on its position as an independent full-service law firm under CEO Andrew Chalkley.
