Specialist tech law firm Boyes Turner has boosted its growing international capability by adding a highly-experienced dispute resolution director to its team.

James Quinn joins the leading Thames-Valley based business after 12 years in the litigation and arbitration team at Silver Circle firm Herbert Smith Freehills in London.

Quinn, who joins as a director, brings significant experience of handling disputes in the energy, construction, banking and maritime industries as well as general commercial cases and litigation involving technology, in line with Boyes Turner’s reputation in the tech sector in the UK and overseas.

In his previous role, he spent several years working in-house on secondments to the dispute resolution teams of two major banks. He also has eight years’ experience of working and advising clients in the Far East on international disputes.

His areas of expertise include technology disputes, commercial dispute resolution, arbitration, mediation, and contract and commercial claims

Quinn joins a dispute resolution team led by Boyes Turner partner Jonathan Grigg, who will become the firm’s new managing partner in April when current CEO Andrew Chalkley steps down to become a consultant for a year before retiring in 2021.

Grigg said: “We’re delighted to welcome James to our expanding dispute resolution team and he joins at an exciting time for the business as we continue to grow our reputation both domestically and with an expanding range of international clients.

“He brings some impressive experience and a strong reputation to our business and will be a valuable addition as we continue to develop the services we offer to clients.”

The firm also recently announced the appointment of Kate Eavis as the new head of its corporate team, after a year in which it advised on 35 transactions in the UK and internationally with an aggregate deal value of more than £250m.
