Thames Valley firm Blandy & Blandy’s employment law team and national audit, tax, advisory and risk firm Crowe welcomed more than 50 guests to a seminar, Employment Status – Steering the Path through IR35, this month.

The event, held at Crowe’s Reading offices, outlined how organisations should be preparing for changes to the off-payroll working rules and welcomed a mix of guests including business owners, finance directors and HR professionals representing businesses, charities and schools.

Partner Sue Dowling, head of Blandy & Bandy’s employment law team, said: “With the quagmire of defining ‘Employment Status’ (employee, worker, or self-employed contractor) continuing to cause organisations difficulties, the changes to the IR35 tax regime, effective from April 2020, are set to further complicate the issue. Private-sector businesses will be brought into line with the IR35 obligations and implications currently applicable only to public-sector organisations.”

She was joined as a speaker by Crowe’s Caroline Harwood, a partner and head of share plans and employment tax.

In their feedback, an impressive 100% of attendees rated the seminar as excellent and said that they would recommend the event to others.
