Aylesbury: Parrott & Coales partner voted 'Regional Notary Public of the Year'
The largest law firm in Aylesbury, Parrott & Coales, is celebrating as one of its partners, James Couzens, has been crowned 'Regional Notary Public of the Year' for the South East.
Couzens, who also runs his own business, James Couzens Notary Public, alongside his work with Parrott and Coales won the award by public vote in the Global ACQ awards 2014.
Since 2008 readers of ACQ, a leading mergers and acquisitions magazine for senior business leaders worldwide, have voted across a range of categories to recognise the most outstanding companies, individuals and firm-wide professionals in the global public and private sectors. This year 28,246 readers voted for their industry leaders making the 2014 awards one of the toughest and most competitive yet.
The Regional Notary Public awards, in particular, is designed to recognise exceptional performance and acknowledge one distinguished notary in the regional category. There are 800 notaries in the UK. With 14% of the regional votes, Couzens secured the most nominations in the South East regional category from industry peers including senior executives in the finance market.
For over four years, Couzens has been successfully helping individuals and businesses with a range of notarial matters such as witnessing powers of attorney, empowering overseas agents or lawyers to act for clients, preparing documents for the purchase or sale of land and property abroad, authenticating documents for immigration or emigration purposes or to marry or work abroad, or other business documents and transactions. Couzens is also responsible for legalising many of those documents at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office or relevant embassy.
His handling of complex cases and knowledge of overseas jurisdiction requirements is a distinguished strength which he has used to successfully help on a variety of issues. Some of his successes include notarising a client’s identity and signature so she could purchase a part of the jungle in Belize; helping notarise a statutory declaration for a couple wanting to marry in Cyprus; and notarising the execution of documents to appoint an agent to be able to submit a tender for an Egyptian armaments contract.
