Specialist mortgage and property financiers, West One Loans has made two senior hires and made three promotions within its second charge team.

A second charge mortgage is a type of loan secured against the equity one has built up on their property.

Lou Blair, who has previously worked at Bluestone Mortgages and Pepper Money, join West One as senior underwriter. Meanwhile Abby Hall, who also previously worked at Pepper Money as well as the Mortgage Advice Bureau and L&C, joins as training and development manager, a newly-formed role.

Joining Blair as senior underwriters will be the newly-promoted Tara Lane and Amelia Dorey. Lane first joined West One as an administrator six years ago, while Dorey has worked in the role of underwriter for around the previous two years.

At the same time, Michael Halsey. Who has spent four years working across West One’s underwriting and servicing divisions, has been promoted to the new role of second charge business development manager for the South and South West.

Marie Grundy, managing director of West One’s second charge division said: “Demand for second charge mortgages is on the rise as more mortgage intermediaries are recognising that this type of borrowing can potentially deliver best advice for homeowners looking to capital raise, without disturbing their existing mortgage arrangements.

“It has been a year of major growth for the second charge team and we have ambitious plans to continue building on what we do. Lou, Abby and Michael are three fantastic additions and with Tara and Amelia’s promotions, we are further enhancing the knowledge, skills and experience we have in-house.”
