Trio of Partner appointments at Kent’s CooperBurnett
Tunbridge Wells-based law firm CooperBurnett LLP has appointed three new partners, with one promotion and two new hires.
Sarah Strong, part of CooperBurnett’s Private Client team since 2014, has been promoted. Her primary responsibilities include the preparation of Wills, advising on Inheritance Tax, Lasting Powers of Attorney and making applications to the Court of Protection.
She recently became a full STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) member and is also a Council member of the Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & District Law Society.
Joseph Oates, Partner and Head of Litigation at CooperBurnett, said: “We had no hesitation at all in offering Sarah the role of Partner. She has been an integral member of our Private Client team for nearly ten years and has assisted so many clients when they need that support most.”
David Brown, an experienced construction lawyer and member of The Technology and Construction Solicitors Association and the Society of Construction Law, has been appointed to lead the firm’s recently-created Construction Offering.

David’s work typically involves providing dispute resolution and contract law advice to building contractors, developers, sub-contractors, architects, surveyors and professional indemnity insurers, and he will regularly work closely with both the Litigation and Property teams.
“We are excited to have secured such an experienced and highly-qualified construction lawyer as David,” said Joseph Oates. “Our Property and Litigation teams here at CooperBurnett are already very strong and to now have Construction is a perfect fit and good news for our clients.”
Rounding out the trio is Russell Brinkhurst, who joins the Corporate and Commercial team, having previously worked at another local law firm for a number of years.
Partner and Head of Corporate & Commercial Services, Victoria Sampson said: “We’ve known each other for many years and I recognised Russell would be a perfect fit for our team. We’re delighted that he’s on our side of the table now and excited about the positive contribution he’ll make to both our firm and our clients.”
Joseph concludes: “This is a real period of growth for CooperBurnett and it’s exciting to welcome three new Partners to our firm.”
