Thames Valley: Newspaper readerships continue to decline

Regional newspaper readers continue to disappear at an alarming rate for the industry, latest figures show. In the Thames Valley, local papers, whether daily or weekly, showed diminishing readerships, according to figures released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Throughout the UK, circulation of paid newspapers fell by 6.4%.
Local figures included:
- Bracknell News: down 7.3%
- Bucks Free Press: down 5.2%
- Henley Standard: down 3.1%
- Maidenhead Advertiser: up 3.2%
- Newbury Weekly News: down 8.9%
- Newbury & Thatcham Chronicle: down 12.9%
- Oxford Mail: down 4.8%
- Oxford Times: down 14.3%
- Reading Chronicle: down 6.9%
- Reading Post: down 8.8%
- Slough & Windsor Express: up 3.9%
- Slough, Eton & Windsor Observer: down 9.3%
- Surrey Advertiser: down 11.5%
- Wokingham Times: down 7.6%
Only the Maidenhead Advertiser and the Slough Express showed gains.
The figures relate to the period July-December 2012.
